Infosys Foundation and DIAV to give Scholarship Worth ₹ 30 Crores to Army Veterans' Children

The Directorate of Indian Army Veterans (DIAV) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Infosys Foundation, the philanthropic and CSR arm of Infosys, to provide educational grants and scholarships worth ₹ 30 crore to widows and children of army personnel who have suffered physical casualties.

This partnership aims to enable over 14,000 widows and children of army personnel from all over India to continue their education, from classes 1 to 12, graduation, post-graduation, professional courses, and grants towards computer literacy. Infosys Foundation has been supporting the Rehabilitation and Welfare section of the Indian Army since 2016, and has already extended financial support amounting to Rs 40 crore to thousands of widows and next of kin of physical casualties. Brigadier Vikas Bharadwaj of DIAV expressed appreciation for the Infosys Foundation's support, stating that this initiative would provide the necessary financial assistance to empower families of army personnel impacted by physical casualties. Sunil Kumar Dhareshwar, Trustee of Infosys Foundation, emphasised the foundation's long-standing collaboration with the defence forces and its vision of education as a core pillar, stating that this partnership would equip army widows and children with knowledge to help them achieve their aspirations and financial security.
