Maiden Indo-France Joint Military Exercise to Kickstart
The Indian Army and French Army will conduct the FRINJEX-23 Joint Military Exercise at Pangode Military Station in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala on the 7-8 March 2023. This will be the first time that both armies will engage in this format, with each contingent consisting of a Company Group from the Indian Army troops based in Thiruvananthapuram and the French 6th Light Armoured Brigade. The exercise's objective is to improve the coordination, cooperation, and interoperability of both forces at the tactical level.
The exercise's scope involves establishing and operationalising a joint command post to secure a designated area for conducting joint humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations, setting up an Internally Displaced Population camp, and transporting disaster relief material. The joint exercise will further strengthen the defense cooperation with France, which is a critical component of the overall strategic partnership between India and France.
