The Army Honours its Courageous Soldier with Heartfelt Tributes

The Indian Army has paid homage to Late Sepoy Pawan Kumar, who bravely sacrificed his life while performing an operational task in Potgampora, Pulwama on 27 February. A solemn ceremony was held at the Chinar War Memorial, BB Cantt, where Major General Vivek Dogra, Chief of Staff, Chinar Corps, and all ranks paid their respects to the courageous soldier on behalf of the nation.

Sepoy Pawan Kumar displayed remarkable courage by overpowering a terrorist in a hand-to-hand combat during a Cordon and Search Operation in Potgampora, Pulwama. Unfortunately, he sustained severe injuries and ultimately succumbed to them, making the supreme sacrifice in the highest traditions of the Indian Army.

Sepoy Pawan Kumar is survived by his mother, Smt Bhajun Dassi. The mortal remains of the brave soldier are being transported to his native place at Village Pithyt, Post Kinoo, Tehsil Rampur, District Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, where he will be laid to rest with full military honours.
