Ukraine-Russia Conflict has Reaffirmed the Importance of Hard-power: India’s Army Chief
During the Def-Tech India Conference in New Delhi, Indian Army Chief Manoj Pande shared insights on India's territorial capabilities and the importance of self-reliance in defence. Drawing from the Russia-Ukraine conflict, he emphasised the need for technology infusion in warfighting systems, stating that India is undergoing a transformation with modernisation and technology infusion as its pillars.
Pande also highlighted the growing prevalence of Grey Zone aggression, which is increasingly being used as a strategy of conflict prosecution, and called for capabilities that can perpetually keep adversaries in a reactive mode. In the context of India's unsettled borders, Pande stressed the need for comprehensive border management that encompasses all aspects of security, not just the military domain. The Army Chief also mentioned valuable pointers from the Russia-Ukraine conflict, including hard power, duration of the war, precision fires, information operations, and grey-zone aggression.
