DRDO Introduces 'Ugram': Indigenous Assault Rifle for Armed Forces

On Monday, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) unveiled 'Ugram,' an advanced 7.62 x 51 mm calibre assault rifle. This indigenous rifle, designed, developed, and produced in partnership with a private industry collaborator, caters to the operational needs of armed forces, paramilitary, and state police units. The rifle, crafted by DRDO's Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) in Pune, boasts an effective range of 500 meters and a weight of under four kilograms. Its development involved collaboration with Hyderabad-based Dvipa Armour India Private Limited.
