India's First Sainik School for Girls Opens in Vrindavan
On January 1, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated India’s first all-girl Sainik School in Vrindavan, situated within Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district. He hailed this event as a watershed moment in the advancement of women's empowerment, emphasizing the institution's role as a guiding light for female students aspiring to serve the country by joining the armed forces.
Named Samvid Gurukulam Girls Sainik School, this establishment accommodates nearly 870 students. It's part of an initiative to establish 100 new Sainik Schools in collaboration with NGOs, private entities, and state government schools across all states and union territories. The Defence Ministry noted that 42 of these schools are already operational, marking significant progress toward this initiative's goals.
