The USS Samuel B Roberts sunk in WW2 by the Japanese Navy

The WWI destroyer USS Samuel B Roberts ("DE413") was sunk by the Japanese Navy in Oct 1944 during the Battle of Samar in the Philippine Sea. It was rediscovered on 22 Jun 22 at a depth of 6865 m, the deepest shipwreck ever to be found.

The wreck was discovered by the explorer Victor Vescovo and sonar expert Jeremie Morizet.
