11 Base Repair Depot (11 BRD)
The Indian Air Force's No. 11 Base Repair Depot (BRD), located in Ojhar, Nashik, Maharashtra, is the only fighter aircraft repair depot. Established under the Maintenance Command, this premier depot repairs and overhauls fighter aircraft. The depot was raised on 14 February 1963, initially equipped with Vampire aircraft. Over the years, it has transitioned to overhauling various aircraft variants like MiG-21, MiG-23, and MiG-29.
During its operational history, No. 11 BRD has played a significant role in various military operations. Notably, during the 1971 India-Pakistan War, the squadron operated in the eastern theatre, undertaking counter-air missions, close air support, and photo reconnaissance missions. The depot has been instrumental in maintaining and overhauling fighter aircraft critical to the Indian Air Force's operational readiness.
The President's Colours were presented to No. 11 BRD on 8 March 2024 as part of a prestigious ceremony honouring various units of the Indian Air Force for their exceptional service and contributions to national security. This recognition underscores the depot's commitment to excellence and its pivotal role in ensuring the airworthiness of fighter aircraft within the Indian Air Force.
