Black Sea Fleet

The Russian Black Sea Fleet is a significant naval force operating under the Russian Navy in the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov, and the Mediterranean Sea. It is part of the Southern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces. The fleet's history dates back to its founding by Prince Potemkin on May 13, 1783. After the Soviet Union's collapse in 1991, the fleet was divided between Russia and Ukraine in 1997, with Russia retaining 82% of the vessels.
The fleet's headquarters are located in Sevastopol, with additional bases in Feodosia (Crimea), Novorossiysk, and Tuapse. The fleet has been actively involved in various engagements and has seen an expansion with the acquisition of new warships and auxiliary ships in recent years. During the "Special Military Operation" in Ukraine, the Black Sea Fleet has been responsible for an area spanning from the Black Sea to the Atlantic Ocean, with deployments as far as the Indian Ocean
