The Indonesian Occupation of East Timor (1975-1999)

Following Portugal's decolonization process and East Timor's brief declaration of independence, Indonesia invaded and occupied East Timor. A prolonged struggle ensued until East Timor achieved UN-recognized independence in 2002 following a referendum.
