Bab al-Mandab Strait
The Bab al-Mandab, also known as the Gate of Grief or the Gate of Tears, is a strait located between Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula and Djibouti and Eritrea in the Horn of Africa. This waterway serves as a connection between the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, ultimately linking to the Indian Ocean. A significant portion of petroleum and natural gas exports from the Persian Gulf, which traverse the Suez Canal or the SUMED Pipeline, pass through both the Bab al-Mandab and the Strait of Hormuz.
